The Getaway Driver Providence Theatre reviews
Bit of a downer.
The concert was a letdown for two reasons: Firstly, TJ delved into a lengthy story about his struggles and his brother's mental illness, which was unnecessary as we were there to be entertained, not preached to. Secondly, there were too many slow ballad-style songs and only a few of their major hits were performed. I did not enjoy hearing The Getaway Driver cover songs by the Rolling Stones or Johnny Cash. In addition, the opening act by Travis Denning was decent, but he should avoid singing songs traditionally performed by artists like Reba and Shania. My wife particularly disliked this aspect, finding it weird to hear a man singing songs originally sung by women. The sound and on-stage effects were excellent, but the concert failed to meet our expectations. My wife and I enjoy attending concerts to escape reality and be entertained; unfortunately, this concert did not deliver the desired experience.
